Charity reveals average amount left in Wills
Battersea Cats and Dogs Home receives on average more than £50,000 in Wills, the charity has revealed.

Around 300 legacies are left to the organisation every year and the average amount is £52,900, leading to many of the animals being named after those who leave cash to the location.

Battersea's legacies manager Spencer Wisdom told the Wandsworth Guardian: "Naming some of our dogs and cats after our generous benefactors is another way for Battersea to celebrate those who have given Marjorie, Sybil and many more animals a much needed second chance."

The £52,900 can provide enough cat litter to keep the home operative for three years or buy enough dog waste bags to last seven years.

Around 140 charities are currently combining for a new campaign that emphasises the importance of individuals leaving money to good causes in their Wills.

Ashley Rowthorn, legacy marketing manager at the Alzheimer's Society, explained how cash raised in this manner is crucial to keeping the organisation going.
