Property sales 'on the up in East Anglia'

The number of people making a property purchase in East Anglia is on the increase, a housebuilder has stated.

According to Persimmon, sales and completions in places such as Norwich have "dramatically improved" in the last 12 months.

Andrew Fuller, managing director of Persimmon Anglia, said this has come about despite concerns over the wider health of the housing market.

Speaking to the Eastern Daily Press, he commented: "Prices do appear to have now stabilised, with no significant reductions in the last three months."

The observations coincide with the publication of the latest Nationwide Consumer Confidence Index, which showed that people in the UK are feeling increasingly positive about the economy.

Confidence levels were found to have risen close to the amount recorded a year ago.

Martin Gahbauer, chief economist at Nationwide, attributed this increase partly to observations by industry commentators suggesting that the worst of the recession may have passed.
