More women want to buy homes, study shows
A growing number of women could be looking to hire a residential conveyancing solicitor ahead of a house purchase.

According to new research from Post Office Mortgages, 1.8 million females between the ages of 18 and 34 want to buy a home in the near future.

This equates to 28 per cent of individuals in this demographic, compared with 20 per cent of men from this age group who have similar aspirations.

While 37 per cent of respondents said the location of the property was important, 28 per cent said space and size were deciding factors.

A total of 30 per cent of women also wanted a house close to the centre of a city.

Head of mortgages at the organisation Mike Cook claimed many females "see buying a home as a financial investment in their future".

Now could be the ideal time to make a property purchase, as the latest Housing Market Confidence Tracker from Halifax found many people are expecting prices to increase during 2011.
