£15,000 for failure to diagnose strangulated hernia

Julie Crossley, a medical injury lawyer at Ashton KCJ, has obtained £15,000 for Mr T following the death of his sister.

Miss T, a Norfolk woman in her 50s, went to the accident and emergency department of her local hospital complaining of severe abdominal pain. She was given medication to treat her hernia but no further examination was undertaken and the fact that it had become strangulated was not diagnosed.

With proper monitoring and diagnosis the problem would have been identified, surgery would have been carried out, and Miss T would still be alive. As Miss T had no children or spouse dependant on her, the claim was brought by her brother under the Human Rights Act.
