Personal injury compensation sought after brain injury

A hotel in the south of England is being targeted by a personal injury compensation claim after a 28-year-old man suffered brain injuries after falling down stairs at the accommodation.

David Atherley was climbing the steps to a staff flat at the Clock Tower Hotel in Exeter, where his partner was staying, but claims it was unlit and there should have been a handrail.

After he fell, he suffered life-changing head injuries, required two major operations and had a titanium plate inserted into his skull, reports the Plymouth Herald.

Doctors have also warned him he is at risk of developing epilepsy and dementia as a result of his injuries, while he has memory and sensory problems due to the incident.

"The biggest thing for me now is poor memory, forgetting people's names within five minutes of being told. I have orientation problems and no concentration," Mr Atherley said.

Vicki Hart recently won £3 million in personal injury compensation due to the injuries she suffered to her brain in a car accident, the Sunday Sun reported.
