Paralysed road accident victim launches compensation bid
A man who was paralysed from the neck down in a car accident has launched a compensation claim to recover damages for his injuries.

The West Essex Guardian reports that Adam Smith, aged 24, placed the blame for the crash on his friend Joe Slater, who was driving the vehicle when it smashed into a wall last August.

Mr Slater died in the crash, but Mr Smith is suing the driver's insurance company alleging he was negligent by driving too fast and failing to avoid the collision.

His solicitor stated his client "suffered quite grievous injuries following this tragic road traffic accident and we are now helping him to secure the specialist care he most urgently needs".

Medical experts have predicted Mr Smith is likely to live until his late sixties, so he is looking for assistance to fund his lifelong care, as he is now dependent on others for most everyday tasks.

Recently, Andrew Chin, who suffered a severe brain injury when his parked car was hit from behind by a speeding motorist in north Wales, received £3.6 million in compensation at Liverpool Crown Court.
