Tom Cook, a KCJ medical injury specialist, has obtained a substantial settlement for Ms D who is currently undergoing kidney dialysis and awaiting a renal transplant. Ms D, now in her 20s, was born with bladder problems which were immediately identified and treated with surgery.
However, her follow up care fell below the required standard as a result of communication failures between her local hospital, where she continued to have treatment, and the specialist hospital in London who carried out her surgery. The outcome of this was that early warning signs of potential complications were not acted upon with the result that she now suffers from severe renal problems and faces the prospect of reduced life expectancy.
