Man wins compensation after biting metal in burger |
A man from Cambridge has successfully won a claim for personal injury compensation after suffering damage to a tooth. Kevin Smith was forced to make several appointments with his dentist as a result of biting into a piece of metal found in a McDonald's burger. The 44-year-old bought the meal at the Rose Crescent branch in his hometown in November. It took five trips to a specialist to repair damage caused to his shattered molar that was caused by a U-shaped piece of aluminium hidden in the meat. Mr Smith said: "It was unlucky but it could have been worse for a child." He was awarded £1,100, which McDonald's was ordered to pay him in personal injury compensation. A spokesperson for the company said: "This incident was fully investigated at the time and has now been resolved." LegalMatch.com advises individuals that they may also be entitled to damages if they suffer cuts to the mouth and throat or illness as a result of ingesting a foreign object through their food.
