Personal injury compensation agreed for woman crushed between two lorries
Personal injury compensation has been agreed for a woman who was badly hurt after being crushed between two lorries.

Doris Barrera-Torrico, now 31, had been cycling to work in London in 2007 when two of the heavy goods vehicles failed to see her.

Her right leg was fractured in multiple places and so much flesh was removed that bone was exposed.

Despite several operations, Ms Barrera-Torrico still has to walk with crutches and can no longer play the sports she loved as a keen triathlete.

After legal action, it has now been agreed that she should receive £280,000 for her pain and suffering, as well as her future lost earnings.

"Lorry drivers as well as car drivers need to be aware of cyclists on city roads. Safer, more aware driving will prevent other people suffering serious injuries like I did," the victim commented.

This follows another case reported earlier this week in which cyclist Hamish McCullough received a multi-million pound sum in compensation after being knocked from his bike by a car, suffering severe brain damage as a result.
