Woman left in agony by 'botched' surgery sues for clinical negligence

A hospital is facing a compensation claim from a woman who believes that a botched hysterectomy left her unable to sit down for three years.

Linda Burgess is suing Leicester Royal Infirmary for clinical negligence after losing her job as a university administrator because of her condition.

The mother-of-two is forced to spend the whole day standing up and cannot bend down to pick things up.

Such is the pain that the 49-year-old endures, she is forced to take morphine before making routine trips to the toilet.

Head of nursing Jane Porter said that no comment can be made by the hospital while the case goes through the appropriate legal channels.

Earlier this year, a woman successfully sued The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust for clinical negligence after the institution admitted that she had been discharged from hospital too soon following a gall bladder operation.
