Mother is paid personal injury compensation after accident on day out
A young mother has been paid personal injury compensation after being hit by falling scaffolding on what should have been a fun family day out.

Sharlene McKenna, 31, was attending Corsley Show with her partner and two children and had been watching stuntmen, the Wiltshire Times reports.

However, as she stood with her 14-month-old daughter in her arms, a scaffolding tower behind her suddenly fell and landed on top of her.

She luckily managed to protect the baby, but suffered soft tissue damage herself and required hospital treatment.

After a Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation found that Action Entertainments - the firm which supplied the scaffolding - had not erected the towers safely, Ms McKenna took legal action against the firm.

It has now been agreed that she will be paid £4,700 in personal injury compensation for the pain and suffering she was caused.

This follows a similar case in July 2010, in which the HSE stepped in to prosecute a company in Teesside after scaffolding fell on to a public street.
