Woman sues council after personal injury
A woman who suffered a serious personal injury after falling on a damaged section of road is suing the local council.

Mandy Goldman, 48, had just got off a bus in Loughton in September 2009 when she caught her foot on a solid lump of tarmac that was raised up close to the kerb, the Epping Forest Guardian reports.

She fractured one ankle and damaged the cartilage in the other, meaning that she has had to take more than a month off work.

"It's been completely debilitating. I'm in severe pain and I've had to go to 22 sessions of physiotherapy," Ms Goldman added.

After looking into her accident, the victim found that a council inspector had recommended that the section of road should be repaired back in 2007, but nothing had been done.

She is now taking legal action against Essex County Council for the pain and suffering she was caused.

A spokesperson for the organisation declined to comment.

Highways authorities have a responsibility to keep roads and footpaths safe for all their users, so anyone injured in a fall may be able to claim compensation and should seek the advice of a personal injury lawyer as soon as possible.
