Kester Cunningham John held its Annual Summer concert on 25th June at Newnham College, Cambridge. Over one hundred guests were able to enjoy a varied and exciting programme of music.
Kester Cunningham John held its Annual Summer concert on 25th June at Newnham College, Cambridge. Over one hundred guests were able to enjoy a varied and exciting programme of music. The concert began by commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of Sibelius' death and the Kester Cunningham John ensemble performed the incidental music for the play Kuolema. The highlight of the first half was Haydn's impassioned Arianne cantata sung by the well known mezzo soprano Olivia Ray. Drinks and canapes were served on the College lawns during the interval. The second half was focused on South American influences' in particular the tangos and songs of the extraordinary Argentinian, Astor Piazzolla.
The concert is an annual event and has proved very popular. Each year we have a chosen charity and this year's concert raised in excess of |
