Our client worked at the delicatessen counter at his local supermarket. He suffered severe lacerations to the middle and ring fingers of his hand whilst cleaning a work surface near the meat slicer. The machine had been left on by a colleague whilst attending to a customer. It made very little noise when switched on and our client's hand came into contact with the blade. Our client is a Grade 8 piano player and was worried that he would not return to playing. Fortunately he has made a good recovery. In total he received damages of
