The blues team sponsored by Kester Cunningham John have had a successful first term. With many new names in the squad it has been a testing time for the team as they build their preparation for the Varsity Match on the 4th March 2010. Next term sees games against Harlequins, Widnes and St Helens. The game at St Helens in February will be the curtain raiser before the Super League match between St Helens and Hull. It will give the team the opportunity to play to a full house.
The team rounded off the games this term with an impressive victory against South London Storm 'A' by 54 points to 6. The Storm are one of the flagship community clubs in London. They have provided many players for both London Skolars as well as Quins RL scholarship and academy systems.
Cambridge University beat Coventry University by 38 points to 0. Ireland RL international and Coventry coach commented: "Cambridge never stopped communicating all day in defence and attack, with enthusiasm everything is possible."
This was a good result following the defeat to Nottingham Trent University by 40 points to 12. Head Coach John Evans was happy with the effort put in by the players: "Away games this year have been a test mainly because of availability - Cambridge and Oxford are pretty unique in BUCS league in that no players get time off to play sport on Wednesdays."
Other results include Cambridge University 22 - Sheffield University 4, Lincoln University 12 - Cambridge 34, and Cambridge 38 - Warwick 10.
