Pre Season beckons for the Blues |

A first for Cambridge University Amateur Rugby League Club is the pre season camp which takes place this week. The suggestion came from new president Rupert Wingate-Saul.
A first for Cambridge University Amateur Rugby League Club is the pre season camp which takes place this week. The suggestion came from new president Rupert Wingate-Saul. The camp will help the team prepare for the pre season friendly against Super 8 side Birmingham University to be played this Saturday 3rd October at St John's College. Kick off is at 2pm.
The squad includes seven new recruits and the season will consist of seventeen games. Wingate-Saul is excited at the prospects this season , "As with every year we are sorry to lose experienced players but as with last year we have retained a strong core from the past campaign and are pleased to have new players joining us for pre season camp and the game against Birmingham. This game will be tough as they play two divisions above us but we will be pleased to get an early hit out to end a camp that we believe will be an important part of our season."
Coach Evans is looking forward to the start of what is an historic season for the club,"The 30th year of the club's existence is something to celebrate and each year we try to add another layer to the experience for the players. When Rupert made the suggestion of the pre season camp I was pleased that it was player led and they have backed him by arriving in Cambridge a week early. The three days are vital to what we are trying to achieve this year. To maintain any gains we made last year we have to push things even harder as our BUCS opponents will be targeting us as a game they want to win. The game against Birmingham will be a great way to shake off the summer excesses and give the players a reality check against one of the top student sides."
Kester Cunningham John is pleased to support the club this year and looks forward to awarding the KCJ man of the match at the end of each game.
