Sir Paul McCartney to marry Nancy Shevell without pre-nuptial agreement |
Sir Paul McCartney has turned down an offer from his fiancee Nancy Shevell to sign a pre-nuptial agreement ahead of their upcoming wedding.
Although the Beatles star had to pay a major divorce settlement thought to be worth as much as £24 million following his split with Heather Mills, he has refused the invitation from Ms Shevell to put a legal document in place, reports the Daily Mail.
Sir Paul is estimated to have a fortune worth close to £500 million but Ms Shevell - the heiress to a major haulage company - was willing to surrender any right to his cash should their marriage fail.
However, it is thought she has signed a one-page document agreeing that she has no right to claim any of the money placed in trust funds for Sir Paul's children and grandchildren.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live earlier in the summer, family division judge Sir Paul Coleridge stated that getting a divorce has become easier in recent years, even arguing the document is easier to obtain than a driving licence.
