A man who received a £5 million divorce settlement is taking his case to the Court of Appeal amid claims that the amount was minimal due to him being male.
The unnamed claimant had been married to his heiress wife for more than 20 years, with both of them deciding to stay at home rather than work.
Following their split, the wife moved out to a nearby property with their children and offered her ex-husband £5 million on top of the £320,000 he already had.
Mr Justice Bodey said this offer was very generous and sufficiently met the ex-husband's needs, ruling that no more money should be taken from the woman's pre-marriage inheritance.
However, the ex-husband is insisting that the amount represents "unfair discrimination" and that his wife would have received more had he been in possession of the inheritance.
Arguing that the woman made no "special contribution" to the fortune, he is now appealing against the decision in a bid to receive a larger payout.
Last month, Victoria Jones, the ex-wife of an oil tycoon, succeeded in having her own divorce payout increased after she claimed it represented less than a quarter of the marital assets.
