Restaurateur wins review of divorce settlement |
An Italian restaurateur has won a review of his 2008 divorce settlement in a UK court.
Unemployed waiter Francesco Traversa was forced by a court in his home country to pay his wife of 20 years Carla Freddi's maintenance costs, as well as vacating their marital property in Palmers Green, London, when they parted ways, despite the pair having an "enormous" divide in their wealth.
Coming from a relatively modest family, Mr Traversa signed a pre-nuptial agreement with "wealthy" Ms Freddi - who has a personal fortune of an estimated £4.3 million - to protect their personal assets when they married.
However, after hearing his appeal on Tuesday (February 15th), British judges ruled he was entitled to a review of the first settlement.
Mr Traversa's legal representative told Bloomberg: "He's very pleased that he's been given permission to bring the case forward, but of course he's got a long way to go."
