'Seek professional family law solicitors' when looking for divorce |
A legal expert has urged couples considering a divorce to use accredited family law solicitors rather than relying on DIY online services that are likely to be unregulated. Speaking to the Guardian, president of the Law Society Linda Lee claimed even the simplest cases of separation can end up being complicated when it comes to divorce proceedings. She noted that it is a "highly complex" area of law and stated in no uncertain terms that an unmonitored DIY facility would not be appropriate, particularly if there are any obstructing factors such as one side withholding information. "A poorly managed divorce can add cost and time to the divorce process and a great deal of stress," Ms Lee remarked. In her opinion, it is advisable for couples to have a meeting with a family law solicitor when they are unsure of their circumstances. While DIY divorces on the internet are not advisable, Kester Cunningham John offers an online facility that is supported by its experienced solicitors and therefore combines the benefits of cost-effectiveness with the security of knowing that a lawyer is reviewing the documentation.
If any difficult financial issues arise, a solicitor will get in touch to suggest a face-to-face meeting.
