Sean Penn 'lost half his fortune' in last year's divorce |
Hollywood actor Sean Penn has been left with a diminished fortune following his divorce from Robyn Wright, he has said. Penn, who is famous for his roles in Milk and I Am Sam, told Hollywood Reporter that he lost 50 per cent of everything he had in the break-up and admitted that he still has to work to make up for the lost money. The couple had been wed for 13 years before the split and the actor has since moved to Haiti to offer his help to the earthquake victims there, returning to the US only to continue his film career. "I got practical issues, like everyone else … I had just got taken for one half of everything I had in the divorce, so it's not like I don't have to work," he explained. A pre-nuptial agreement, which is a contract signed by both partners before a marriage, might have helped the star to avoid such a decision in court, as even though they are not formally recognised in divorce cases, a judge may agree to take them into account.
