Cheryl Cole is granted a decree nisi |
Cheryl Cole's divorce from Ashley Cole is another step closer to being finalised after she was granted a decree nisi by the High Court.
The singer and the footballer were not present to hear the proceedings on Friday (September 3rd 2010) and the petition was listed under their initials to prevent publicity.
The decree nisi was granted on the basis of unreasonable behaviour by Ashley, who was revealed to have committed infidelity with a number of women in February.
It is believed that the assets owned by Cheryl and Ashley - including their Surrey mansion - will be split equally, while Cheryl will be granted custody of their two dogs.
Cheryl will be retaining her married name, with sources telling the Mirror this is because she has built her solo career based upon it.
The Girls Aloud star told Vogue she is trying to learn from everything that has happened.
"I accept that that's a chapter of my life that's finished," she commented.
