Families with twins 'more likely to experience divorce' |
Families who have twins or triplets are more likely to need a divorce lawyer than those who have children one at a time, it has been found.
According to research from Birmingham University and the Twin and Multiple Births Association, couples were 17 per cent less likely to divorce if they had several children with time in between than those who experienced multiple births.
The financial pressures exerted by having more than one baby to cope with were given as the main reason for separation for most people.
Steve McKay, professor of social research at Birmingham University, said he was somewhat surprised by the outcome of the research, particularly given that multiple births often occur among older couples who are likely to have more money.
However, he added to the Telegraph: "There is a noticeable difference in the statistics when it comes to separation and divorce - this is not just by chance."
DivorceAid.co.uk spokesperson Christina Tait recently said in an article for the Express that a good divorce lawyer is essential when it comes to separation, as they will be able to organise and divide up assets effectively.
