KCJ offers support to Norfolk Family Mediation Service |
The Norfolk Family Mediation Service (NFMS) will be able to continue to offer appointments to clients in Thetford thanks to the help of local solicitors Kester Cunningham John. NFMS previously had the use of meeting rooms in Bridge Street but feared when these were withdrawn that clients might have to travel to Swaffham or Norwich. Now they can continue their normal service at KCJ's Bury Road premises.
The Norfolk Family Mediation Service (NFMS) specialises in helping those who are divorcing or separating to resolve practical issues amicably. Judith Bell, service director at NFMS, explains: "Whether problem issues are financial or relate to the arrangements for the children, mediation may be a helpful approach. The aim is to provide a calm, neutral environment for people to discuss and agree a way forward. The meeting is facilitated by a qualified mediator with experience in similar situations".
Neale Grearson, a family law partner at Kester Cunningham John, endorses NFMS and is a Trustee of the organisation. He says: "Some couples are able to reach amicable agreement at home about who should have what, and how much time each parent should spend with their children. Most do not find it quite so easy. Any approach which enables couples to reach agreement without ending up in court has to be beneficial for all involved as well as saving money. Mediation is one proven route to doing this, another is Collaborative Law".
NFMS is based in Norwich but also offers facilities in King's Lynn, Great Yarmouth, Fakenham and Swaffham as well as Thetford. Further information can be found at www.norfolkmediation.co.uk .
