A football club has offered voluntary redundancy packages to every member of staff in a bid to save money and prevent the side from going under.

Lincoln City Football Club Chief Executive Steve Prescott admitted that cashflow is causing a problem at the team, which is currently 21st in the Blue Square Premier. He told the Lincolnshire Echo that the club needs to accept that it is now a non-league side and begin to behave like one. Some 20 full-time members of staff are currently employed by the club and have been offered voluntary redundancy in a bid to reduce overheads.

Mr Prescott said: "If there is someone who wants to take voluntary redundancy, it could possibly help to avoid compulsory redundancies."

BAE Systems recently revealed that it is looking to make as many as 3,000 workers redundant as the defence company attempts to remain competitive in its field.
