Half of British workers 'view managers negatively'
Almost half of employees who responded to a survey about their managers view them in a negative light.

This was the discovery of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), which asked British workers their opinions about senior management in their places of work.

Some 21 per cent reported that their bosses are authoritarian, while 16 per cent criticised their bureaucracy.

Meanwhile, 12.5 per cent said their managers do not share enough with their workforce.

Only ten per cent said they find their boss easy to approach.

CMI chief executive Ruth Spellman called the findings "an embarrassment" which could lead to a disillusioned and disloyal workforce.

"Negativity breeds negativity … we need more businesses that are innovative, accessible and empowering," she warned.

This follows another survey last month by Careerplan4.me, which showed that one in three people made redundant recently think their employer did not handle their dismissal in a positive way, People Management reported.
