Some companies 'are handling redundancy badly'
A large proportion of people selected for redundancy in the UK are unhappy about the way their employer handled the issue.

This is according to new figures from Careerplan4.me, cited by People Management magazine, which stated that almost one in three people believe their redundancy was handled poorly.

Only 15 per cent said they had been offered advice on how best to get another position elsewhere, while more than half said they were given no support.

Careerplan4.me co-founder Richard Banks said this could have a negative effect upon these employers, particularly since many people talk about their experiences on outlets such as Facebook.

"While many HR departments and employers are rising to the challenge of making redundancies as well as possible, far too many aren't," he warned.

This comes after recent figures from HM Revenue and Customs showed that there will have been £6 billion worth of redundancy payouts in the financial year to March 31st 2010.
