Families 'disgusted' by forces redundancies |
Soldiers are set to be made redundant from the armed forces as a result of budget cuts, with one family "disgusted" by the move.
Michael Slade, whose daughter Natalie recently returned from service in Afghanistan, stated that in his 26 years in the armed forces he was always properly equipped and cannot believe the current situation.
Speaking to dinningtontoday.co.uk, he said: "I can't believe these guys and girls are being reduced to this extent."
Some 22,000 people are going to lose their roles in the armed forces over the next few years and around half of these are expected to be through redundancies.
Worksop's Royal British Legion standard bearer Brian Madden added that more strain will be placed on those who remain as a result of the cuts.
Redundancy payouts have also recently affected services group Mouchel, despite an order book described as looking strong.
