Many employers 'do not deal compassionately with redundancy'

A growing number of employees in the UK may wish to seek the advice of an employment law specialist regarding redundancy.

According to a survey carried out by YouGov for the Good Work Commission, the majority of workers do not feel as though their company deals with job losses in a compassionate way.

Furthermore, just four out of ten respondents claimed their managers behave with integrity in the workplace.

The report suggested that there is a lack of trust among employees, with many staff members having concerns about their enterprise.

However, creating a feeling of 'good work' - which includes the salary people receive as well as working conditions and employee engagement - can enhance the productivity of a company, the study noted.

Some employees who may agree with the findings of this survey are those working at Middlesbrough, Stockton and Redcar and Cleveland councils.

The Evening Gazette recently reported that despite performing the same duties, individuals at these authorities who are at risk of losing their jobs could receive different redundancy packages.
