Brothers battle in court over alleged unfair dismissal
Two brothers are facing each other in court after one accused the other of unfairly dismissing him from his position in their company.

Jason and Justin Williams were directors at Lasertech UK, a printer cartridge business in Warrington, the Warrington Guardian reports.

However, the business was the subject of an inquiry by the Companies Investigation Branch in 2009 following a number of complaints from franchisees.

It was saved from liquidation by strict government notices outlining rules the company must stick to.

According to Justin, Jason flouted these and took part in illegal activity, but when Justin challenged him, he was made redundant.

Justin is now suing his brother for unfair dismissal, although Jason insists he let his brother go to cut costs and "plan for recovery" for the company.

"He's vindictive and cares about nobody but himself," Justin commented.

In related news, the Trades Union Congress recently criticised government proposals to only allow employees to make claims for unfair dismissal after two years in their job rather than one, saying it would lead to discrimination.
