An insurance worker who was subjected to racial discrimination at work has been awarded compensation for her ordeal.
Licia Faithful, 31, joined AXA PPP Healthcare and moved to its claims division in April 2007, but was so emotionally distressed by her treatment at the hands of colleagues that she was unable to complete basic household tasks by 2008.
She is Brazilian and her fellow workers called her "SpongeBob SquarePants" because of her accent, recorded her voice and mocked her and asked her if she was on drugs because of her South American origins.
She was also passed over for promotions and bonuses.
Ms Faithful took her case to an employment law tribunal and has now been awarded almost £142,000 after it was found that her colleagues "were engaged in bullying, which was contrary to the respondent's own bullying and harassment policy".
In November 2010, Juliette Giscombe, 57, announced she was suing Hilton Hotels for £60,000 amid allegations that she too was victimised because of her race.
