25 per cent of staff 'have experienced workplace bullying'
New research has revealed that a large proportion of British workers are unhappy in their jobs.

The January Employment Index released by Monster.co.uk showed that almost three-quarters of people reported disliking their current form of employment, with 40 per cent saying they were suffering from severe stress.

However, perhaps more worryingly for employers, 25 per cent said they have experienced workplace bullying and even humiliation at the hands of a colleague, Personnel Today reports.

Monster.co.uk spokesperson Isabelle Ratinaud commented: "When employees feel despondent and trapped in their roles it's not surprising, but still very upsetting, to see that workplace bullying and overall lack of respect for colleagues is so common."

Meanwhile, according to a new study by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, one in five employees now fears that they will be facing redundancy soon.

Anyone who feels they are being unfairly treated at work - or who has been sacked without the proper procedures being followed - may be eligible to claim compensation and should seek the advice of a solicitor specialising in employment law.
