Employers 'need to do more to prevent racial discrimination' /resources/news/employee-news/1759-Employers-need-to-do-more-to-prevent-racial-discrimination

Employers 'need to do more to prevent racial discrimination'
Employers need to do more if they are to prevent employment law tribunals arising as a result of racial discrimination, it has been claimed.

Race from Opportunity pointed to recent research from the University of Leeds, which showed that one in five Britons could be from an ethic minority by 2051.

However, it warned that ensuring black, Asian and minority ethnic employees have equal rights in the workplace may become more difficult.

Sandra Kerr, national director of Race for Opportunity, commented: "This report is a wake-up call to businesses and all organisations in the UK to recognise that they need to radically rethink how they go about recruiting people."

Under the 1976 Race Relations Act, it is illegal for an employer to discriminate against anyone because of their race.

Anyone who feels they have been the victim of this kind of discrimination may wish to contact employment law solicitors in order to discuss their case.
