Three parking attendants pursue claims for unfair dismissal
Three former parking attendants are pursuing claims for unfair dismissal against their employer amid allegations that they were encouraged to issue tickets unfairly.

Jo Pengilley, Tony Lewis and Sylvia Watts were originally traffic wardens for Devon and Cornwall Police, but became civil officers for the council in May 2008, according to the Exeter Express and Echo.

All three claim they were told to ignore traffic regulation orders and to give out tickets where the signs and lines were ambiguous.

They were also ordered to patrol areas of the high street and issue fines where they should not have been working.

Miss Pengilley and Mr Lewis eventually resigned after being suspended for failing to comply with orders, while Ms Watts left her job following a period of sick leave.

At an employment law tribunal this week, the three workers said they are claiming unfair constructive dismissal.

Earlier this month, the Daily Express reported that a music teacher is also pursuing an unfair dismissal claim after his old-fashioned teaching methods led to his suspension.
