Tower of London pays compensation to beefeater accused of bullying
A beefeater who was sacked from his job amid allegations of bullying has received an apology and been paid compensation for unfair dismissal.

Mark Sanders-Crook, 44, was removed from his position as a Yeoman Warder in November 2009 after Moira Cameron - the first female to do the job in 1,000 years - alleged he had treated her unfairly and avoided her.

He lost his £25,000 a year salary and his reduced-rent home, but always denied the allegations made against him.

Mr Sanders-Croft took Historic Royal Palaces to an employment law tribunal and it has now been agreed that his dismissal was unjustified.

"We have therefore apologised to Mr Sanders-Crook and reached agreement on an appropriate settlement," the organisation said.

Yeoman Warders are ceremonial guardians of the Tower of London and are traditionally in place to guard the crown jewels, but they now also act as tour guides and are viewed as an attraction in their own right.
