'Exciting opportunities available' in commercial property

Investors looking to purchase commercial property may find they have many options available at the moment, as one firm has stated that there are some excellent opportunities for the right people.

According to Legal & General's head of research and strategy Rob Martin, the economic recovery is leading to higher demand for certain locations, with a focus on top quality assets.

He noted that modern retail units in prime locations are likely to see high occupancy levels and highlighted London and the south-east as key areas for growth.

"While the pace of market returns is hard to predict as the economy remains weak, there are still some rare investment opportunities for investors with the right knowledge and resources," Mr Martin continued.

He added that alternative rent review structures such as index-linked leases are particularly attractive to investors due to their high performance.

This week, the IPD's latest quarterly report found that growth in UK commercial property slowed in the first three months of 2011, though it continued to show improving values.
