David Hughes, a partner in Ashton Graham, retired at the end of August. He had joined Bankes Ashton in 1987, coming from the London Solicitors, MacDonald Stacey. Before embarking on a legal career, he had spent 10 years as an army officer in the Royal Green Jackets. David has been a partner in Bankes Ashton, and then Ashton Graham, for more than 20 years. He was president of the Suffolk and North Essex Law Society in 2007/2008. David worked in Wills and wealth management, and he relished nothing better than wrestling with a knotty tax planning issue.
We shall miss his distinctive and ebullient figure around the office, and wish him well in his retirement.
