The BBC Panorama programme on 9th of August pointed out the possible pitfalls of using Will writers instead of solicitors to have a Will drawn up. What emerged from the documentary was that the price of 'a cheap Will', as quoted by Will writers, can easily go up. The programme also hi-lighted the complete lack of legal regulation of the Will writing industry, for example, there is no requirement for minimum training or insurance, which would pay out in the event of a problem
When asking a solicitor to draw up your Will, you have the protection of knowing that they are properly trained, fully regulated and insured. The problem with a Will is that you will never know if it is done correctly until it is too late. The advice is to speak to a solicitor if you have concerns about a Will or any product sold to you by a Will writing service.
