Personal injury compensation worth £35,000 is being claimed by a family who were hit by illness during a holiday in Lanzarote.
Roddy and Julie Scotland launched the action against First Choice after their daughter was struck by cryptosporidiosis which she is thought to have caught from the pool at their hotel, the Flamingo Beach Holiday Village in Playa Blanca.
Mrs Scotland told the Daily Record that Emily, five, was ill for a month following the holiday and was affected by "excruciating" levels of pain.
She said: "She was screaming out in agony and she was doubled over with pain. Following that, she was violently sick and had terrible diarrhoea."
Other holidaymakers have written on the TripAdvisor recommendations website that they have been ill after visiting the same complex earlier in the year.
But a spokesperson for First Choice refused to comment on the Scotlands' case.
The Daily Echo previously reported on the case of Michelle Dragon, who won a six-figure personal injury settlement after falling down a manhole during a holiday in Turkey.
If your holiday has turned into a nightmare through illness or an injury that could have been avoided by proper health and safety measures, you can usually claim in the UK from the tour operator. It is a complex area, but one in which Ashton KCJ’s Tim Gleave regularly gets good results for our clients.
